10 Emerging Education Technologies

With the advancement of science, many educational technologies have come up which may change the way students learn today. These technologies will not only impact the students’ way of thinking but will also help them to approach education in a modern way.

Though the conventional way of learning i.e. the chalk and board is still debatable, these below-mentioned Ed-tech developments can bring a revolution in the learning process. Students can learn Algebra, geometry and other topics through the videos which enhances the learning experiences.

  1. Mobile Learning.

The downloading of educational apps in various mobile platforms has increased significantly in the last few years. It is also expected that the mobile traffic will soon surpass the desktop traffic which hints that mobile based education will become a very important part for the next generation of students.

  1. Wearable Technology.

With the new smartwatches and Google Glass, students can learn through activities since these gadgets contain pressure sensors, motion sensors, etc. These portable gadgets will surely aid the education in various other ways in the very near future.

This is an acronym for “Bring Your Own Device”. Many schools around the world have already allowed the students to bring their own gadgets i.e. their smartphones to the school. This will be very useful for those students who are habituated to learn from gadgets at home but the school cannot provide the same.

With this technology, students can transform the digital information into reality and can have hands-on experience with different things. The schools equipped with 3D Printing labs are not a distant vision anymore.

With Cloud Computing, all the information is available to the teachers and students everywhere irrespective of their device. The use of Google Classroom has increased remarkably and this will also become an integral part of the future education.

The students are learning collaboratively using the use of social media and so many schools and universities are creating their own social platforms to make education more easily.

  1. Openness.

The various digital textbooks, journals and other contents are now openly available to the students which can surely increase the quality of education. These contents are available through various open source software known as MOOCs.

Various online sites are now offering the students to learn various topics through the videos and they also divide the contents board wise like CBSE, ICSE, etc.

  1. Blended, Flipped and Hybrid Learning.

These type of learning includes both online and classroom education. With these forms of learning, students are initiated learning by the online presentations and outside the class experiences.

  1. Gamification.

Students are taught through various simulations based games which help them to retain things for the longer duration. Many institutes have already started to integrate this “Game-Based Learning” into their curriculum so as to increase the efficiency of learning.

With these aforementioned technological advancements, the next generation of learning will surely be a thing to witness. The efficiency of learning and the way of education will undoubtedly improve in the very near future.
